Katharine and Seth are joined this week by their friend and local Integrative Manual Therapy practitioner, Carol Smith. Carol’s expertise goes far beyond her hands-on healing modalities and it is really her deep wisdom and profound love that shine through this episode. What is trauma and do we have to live with it our whole lives? Do we create our own suffering or is the name of the human game being faced with adversity no matter your mind set? And are we strong enough to overcome whatever we face? Carol shares her experience of working with thousands of clients over decades and the true nature of human resiliency. It is an inspiring and touching conversation that brought Katharine and Seth to tears. We hope you not only hear, but feel the deep resonance of Carol’s words and it helps you to remember just how powerful you are.
About Carol Smith: Carol’s life and healing practice are deeply grounded in the understanding that Love is the most powerful medicine we can use to transform, heal and integrate every level of our human experience—physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. As we open ourselves to knowing we are Love, we can release the need to search, try, or figure out how to love ourselves. We discover we are love, a unique expression of our own Divine and we move directly into the flow of healing; we become attuned to the flow of life. Carol’s work is a hands on healing practice of deep listening to each person’s being and being led by their internal wisdom. She is passionate about empowering her clients to befriend their bodies as Divine gateways for welcoming more health, wholeness and connection as Love frees us all.

While so much is better after the immediate effects of Hurricane Helene, there are still many questions, murky paths, and unknowns. Katharine and Seth discuss what’s next for their former home and how they’re surrendering yet again in the process. They also talk about their recent garage sale and the unexpected healing that came from that - and how the community in Western North Carolina is doing. Katharine and Seth are back after a rejuvenating spring break and they’re thrilled to have Deborah Sabalusky on the podcast this week! Deborah faced a dark night of the soul when her relationship of almost 15 years fell apart in front of her eyes. The dream home, family, and life she had imagined was stripped from her and it left her contemplating who she really was, what she truly wanted, where to go from here, and how to raise a young daughter in the midst of it all. To add insult to injury her beloved cat of 18 years died, and then she was injured in a car accident. All of this led to Deborah taking her life back and charting a new course for herself. We hope you enjoy hearing Deborah’s story and are inspired by her journey from devastation to reclamation.
A little bit about Deborah: Deborah Sabalusky shares about the gift of self-discovery she's experienced while simultaneously healing through the grief of losing a beloved pet, divorce while raising a young child, and processing the pains and dreams of childhood through motherhood. Mind/body practices like meditation, breath work and yoga helped her reconnect with her authentic child-like self, to find true love within herself, with life, and in relationship with a partner she met by following her calling.
Deborah launched SOLful Living to offer guided meditations after receiving a calling to lead meditations. Deborah hopes that by sharing her story and unique approach to meditation with continuous grounding cues, other women will find comfort in reconnecting with their body and soul, discover safety and security within, and lead a vibrant, fulfilling life.

Katharine and Seth sit down to interview their very own son, Bradshaw and ask him what it was like to lose his home and many of his belongings during Hurricane Helene. They ask him questions that they had never asked him in the six months following the storm and learn how children see things so differently than we adults.  We hope you find it uplifting and hopeful and it makes you feel good about our future generation of humans.

Katharine and Seth are thrilled to share the powerful interview they had with Kay Sullivan, Katharine’s mom. Kay went through her own dark night of the soul beginning in 2006 when she was diagnosed with Lupus, a chronic “incurable” autoimmune disease. Kay’s mindset upon her diagnosis and what she chose to do with this information may surprise you. It certainly inspired us! Kay’s unrelenting belief that the body can heal itself from anything as long as it’s given the proper conditions may change the way you view your own body and health. We hope you find inspiration, joy, and gratitude for your body in this week’s episode.
And thank you as always for listening, and if you enjoyed this episode or any past episodes, please share it with a friend and leave us a positive review on Apple Podcast. We appreciate the support so much!
More about Kay Sullivan:Kay is a native Floridian. She’s been married to her husband, John, for nearly 45 years. They have 3 children (Katharine, Sarah, and Sergey) and one grandson, Bradshaw. In her early years Kay worked as a medical social worker in St. Petersburg. She spent some years as a stay at home mom and later, in an effort to combat suburban sprawl in their area, she and John began building a pedestrian friendly new town.  When she fell chronically ill and faced a dark night of the soul, she had to rearrange and reconsider her life and life choices in order to regain her health. Kay believes that whatever the circumstances, healing is always possible.

Today you are in for a real treat as Katharine and Seth sit down with the luminous, brilliant, and hilariously funny Cindy Gough James. She calls herself a Planetary Force and by the end of this episode, you will see why. Cindy shares a story of heartbreak, a mother’s powerful intuition, and ultimately one of miracles. The dark portal of transformation that Cindy went through is one that would break many, but she faced it head on. And on the other side, she discovered healing powers she never knew she had. In addition to sharing one of her stories, Cindy, Katharine, and Seth start out discussing larger spiritual themes and questions. Cindy relays her vast knowledge of the Divine Masculine and Divine Feminine within all of us. They ponder this beautiful, infinite, and wild human experience together. We hope you enjoy this thought provoking conversation.
